Important: Configure your barcode scanner correctly
Scanner Configuration
For consistent session records, we recommend configuring your barcode scanner to only scan UPC (Universal Product Code) barcodes.
Why UPC-only?
Disabling other barcode types (Code 39, Code 128, QR codes, etc.) prevents accidental scans of shipping labels, internal barcodes, or packaging codes that aren't product UPCs. This keeps your session data tidy before you hand it off to your inventory system.
How to Configure Your Scanner
- 1Access scanner programming mode - Consult your scanner's manual for programming barcodes or configuration menu
- 2Disable all barcode types - Turn off scanning for all symbologies
- 3Enable UPC-A and UPC-E only - Turn on these two UPC formats (most common product barcodes)
- 4Save and test - Exit programming mode and test on a product with a UPC barcode

What's included in all plans?
Every plan includes unlimited scan sessions, incoming & outgoing workflows, PDF reports, box labels, UPC management with bulk import, role-based access, and full email & phone support. Smart Scan does not calculate stock levels—we give you organized session data you can send to your inventory platform.
Does Smart Scan replace my inventory system?
No. Smart Scan documents incoming and outgoing scan sessions, generates PDFs, and helps your team maintain a UPC catalog. You keep running your inventory counts in your ERP, WMS, or spreadsheet. Our exports make handoff easier.
Do you offer annual billing?
Currently we offer monthly billing only. Contact our sales team if you're interested in annual contracts for larger teams.
How long does setup take?
Most teams are up and running in under an hour. We'll help you import your UPC catalog, set up user accounts, and train your team on the scanning workflows. You can start logging sessions right away.
What if I need to cancel?
No long-term contracts or cancellation fees. Contact our support team and we'll process your cancellation. You'll have access until the end of your current billing period.
